Return of Excaped Inmates in Kaski Jail Reached 413

During the protest on September 9, 2025, following the attack on Kaski Jail and the Child Reform Home, the process of escaped inmates and children returning has continued. According to the data provided by the Kaski Jail Administration, 413 inmates have returned so far, while 360 are still absconding.

Jail Chief Rajendra Sharma informed that after the protesters attacked, the inmates had come out for security reasons, and as the situation is gradually returning to normal, they have been urged to return voluntarily. Before the agitation, there were 773 inmates in Kaski Jail, 35 in the women’s block and 738 in the men’s block. Sharma further stated that search operations for the remaining inmates have been intensified through the police. For those who have not come into contact, information will be provided to the police, and the process of bringing them back through police action has been initiated. At the same time, the police administration has also called on the inmates to return voluntarily, warning that if delayed, strict legal action will be taken.

Similarly, at the Child Reform Home in Gyarajati, Pokhara Metropolitan City–19, 49 out of the 109 boys have returned, while the search for the remaining continues, according to Reform Home Chief Dasi Paudel. According to him, the children had escaped after the agitators vandalized the gate and windows.
