Following the arson during the protests against corruption, mismanagement, and the social media ban, four completely burned bodies were recovered on September 12 at the Bhatbhateni branch in Putaliline, Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-10. Similarly, one fully burned body was discovered at the Bhatbhateni branch in Biratnagar Metropolitan City-6 on September 15. The identities of all the deceased individuals, however, have not yet been verified.
The police have stated that the bodies, being completely burned could not undergo post-mortem, making it impossible to determine the cause of death. So far, no relatives have come forward to claim the bodies, which has further delayed their identification.
To identify all the bodies found at the Bhatbhateni stores in Dharan and Biratnagar, samples have been sent to the police forensic laboratory for DNA testing; however, the reports are still pending, according to the Provincial Police Office, Rani, Biratnagar.
