Photo Feature- Clash During the Protest of MCC

After the project of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) was presented at the House of Representatives, a clash broke out for almost an entire day between the protestors and the police at the Baneswor and Bijuli bazaar area on February 20.

According to SP Dinesh Raj Mainali of the Metropolitan Police Range, Teku, 27 protesters, 17 policemen and seven armed policemen were injured in the clash that took place time and again at Baneswor and Bijulibazaar.

The security personnel used water cannon, fired 115 cell tear gas and 30 rounds rubber bullet to control the mob who pelted stones on them. Roads leading to the parliament buildings were blocked for hours because of the clashes.

He further added that 25 shields were shattered by stones and bricks pelted by the protesters.

Twenty-two injured protesters were treated at the Everest Hospital in New Baneswor.

The treatment of five critically injured people is ongoing in the ward of the same hospital under the observation of a doctor.

Similarly, 15 injured people are undergoing treatment at Nepal Police Hospital, Panipokhari. Three of the injured are being treated at the APF Hospital in Balambu while the remaining four are being treated at the Emergency Treatment Room inside the Parliament House, police informed.
