During the election silence period for the House of Representatives election scheduled on March 5, political activity was observed on March 3 in the Charang area of Lohekar Damodar Kund Rural Municipality, Mustang.
The Armed Police Force seized vehicle G1C 6524 of former Ward Chairperson Navang Kunga Lama of Lomanthang Rural Municipality–5, who was accused of distributing money to influence the election.
The vehicle was carrying Rs. 500,000 and documents of the Nepali Congress, intended to sway voters in Charang, Lohekar Damodar Kund Rural Municipality, officials from the District Security Committee, and Chief District Officer Ajita Sharma stated. Upon inspection of the vehicle traveling from Charang towards Lomanthang during the silence period, authorities also found the party flag and a list of people intended to receive money.
Locals reported that when the vehicle was searched in the presence of representatives from local political parties, and money was found, the Congress workers inside the vehicle fled the scene.
