Court Awards Seven-Year Sentence in Rape Case

Yagya Bohara, 31 of Babai Rural Municipality-4, has been sentenced to seven years in jail by the District Court for the rape of a 51-year-old woman.

A bench of District Judge Lalsingh Thapa on May 7 found the accused guilty and sentenced him to seven years of imprisonment, a fine of Rs. 30,000, compensation of Rs. 300,000 to the victim, and Rs. 12,000 to be deposited in the Victim Relief Fund, according to court registrar Bhupal Bhandari.

Bohara was accused of committing the rape on February 10, 2025. Following a complaint filed by the victim on Falgun 1 at the Area Police Office, Tulsipur, police arrested him on the same day and initiated an investigation. The victim’s medical examination was conducted on February 13, 2025, at Rapti Provincial Hospital, Tulsipur.
