The police have arrested Bishwajit Chamling, 37, of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City–8, who had been convicted by the District Court on the charge of raping a 13-year-old girl, after nine years.
Chamling, who had been absconding after being convicted by the court in a rape case, was arrested by the police from Dharan on April 10.
The victim’s side had filed a complaint at the District Police Office on July 23, 2015, accusing Chamling of raping the 13-year-old girl on July 22, 2015.
Following the complaint filed by the victim’s side, the police had registered a case under the charge of rape at the District Court on September 1, 2016, against the accused, who had gone absconding. The court, determining him guilty of the offense, had sentenced Chamling to 11 years of imprisonment.
