Court Order to Remand All Four Juveniles in the Inisha BK Case to Reform Home

The District Court of Surkhet has ordered that four juveniles accused in the case of Inisha BK, 16, who was reportedly raped and killed, be sent to a juvenile reform home. On March 31, the bench of Judge Deepak Dhakal issued the order, according to Ujjwaldev Rawal, Information Officer of the Surkhet District Court.

“All four are charged with rape and homicide. Considering the severity of the case and the preliminary evidence, the court ordered that the juveniles be kept in the rehabilitation center until the investigation is completed,” Rawal stated. Bail hearings had been ongoing since March 30, and on March 31, relatives of the victim staged a sit-in at the court gate until the order was issued, which they welcomed.

Police had submitted the investigation report to the District Government Attorney’s Office on March 25. Based on this, the Attorney’s Office filed the charge sheet at the District Court of Surkhet on Sunday.

Inisha, originally from Badakholi, Gurbhakot Municipality–6, was living with her family in Birendranagar Municipality–1. On March 7, she left home around 6 a.m. to attend a practical class and was found unconscious around 9 a.m. in the Janjagaran Community Forest, north of Birendranagar Municipality–4. She was declared dead by doctors at the provincial hospital. On the same day, police arrested a 16-year-old boy from the scene, who claimed to be Inisha’s boyfriend. Her relatives filed a complaint at the Surkhet District Police Office on March 8, alleging gang rape and murder. The postmortem was conducted on March 9 at the Surkhet Provincial Hospital.

The main accused admitted to calling other friends for assistance. Police arrested three additional juveniles aged 15, 16, and 17 on March 8. While the police investigation concluded it was a single perpetrator, the Attorney’s Office charged them with gang rape in the filed charge sheet.

Inisha’s body has not been claimed for 24 days and remains in the provincial hospital morgue, as the family has not yet decided on final rites.

Inisha’s mother, Tila BK, expressed respect for the court’s order and hopes for truthful, factual, and impartial justice in the coming days. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and four teams of Nepal Police have conducted investigations, with one team arriving in Surkhet on March 11.
