Police arrested Suraj Kumar Loniya, 23, Maharajgunj Municipality-11, on September 7, 2025, for raping a 13-year-old girl on the same day. The victim’s family filed a complaint at the District Police Office on 8 September. The victim underwent a medical examination at Kapilvastu Hospital, Taulihawa, on the same day. On 27 January 2026, Kaplivastu District Court Judge Mahesh Khanal found the accused guilty and ordered 18 years’ imprisonment, a fine of Rs. 700,000 to be deposited in the Victim Relief Fund, and the same amount to be paid to the victim as compensation, according to the Court Registrar Ananata Marasini.
