Ganesh Kumar Yadav, 24, a resident of Inaruwa Municipality-2 and the operator and journalist of “Sunsari Online,” was reportedly beaten and attacked. Ranjit Mehta, 22, from Inaruwa Municipality-9, Babia, was arrested by the police on February 17 in connection with the incident.
According to DSP Chandra Bahadur Khadka of Sunsari, on the night of February 16, during the Shivaratri cultural program, a group, including Ranjit from Inaruwa Municipality-9, allegedly beat journalist Yadav while he was collecting news, and he was subsequently arrested.
The Sunsari police stated that legal proceedings have been initiated based on the oral complaint of the injured. According to local resident Devaraj Yadav, he was beaten while going to collect news at the program organized at Babia Pokhari Shiv Temple. The assault caused injuries to Yadav’s eyes and head, and he is receiving treatment at Sunsari District Hospital.
