Victim’s family accuses of inflicting torture in the police custody

The victim’s mother Harikala Yadav, 74 has accused police of inflicting torture on her son Kumbir Buda, 37 of Ghorahi Sub-metropolis-14 by pressuring him confess and prove the crime of murder.

While organizing a press conference on September 14 in Ghorahi, she appealed human rights activists, journos, civil society to initiate for the fair and bias less investigation.

The accused was charged for his involvement on killing 30 years old Tek Bahadur Gharti on Ghorahi-10 in 2011 July 12. He was absconding after the incident and was arrested from Baglung on September 2 and was taken into custody.

The victim’s family has appealed to stop torture on him as he sustained several bruises over his body and undergoing treatment at Rapti Sub-regional hospital on September 13.

The family has also shown concern over making him public by the police in press conference without any proof of his involvement in the incident. The victim’s family has been saying that he is kept in a custody in false allegation.

DSP Ram Prasad Gharti Magar of District Police Office however denied of inflicting torture. The victim was working as a farmer  and also as a porter to provide food and stuffs to Nepali army and police.
