The locals at Melauli Municipality-9 have presented the memorandum to the Chief District Officer on October 10 demanding to remove gender and cast discrimination.
The locals have handed over the memorandum with the signature of 69 people to the CDO Siddha Raj Joshi by the ward member Bhim Datta Bhatta as there is a high probability of discrimination during the festival time.
There is a compulsion culture that a parent of a newly born baby boy must hand over a goat to local. Similarly there is culture of purifying Dalit by sprinkling water on them.
There are about 300 non-Dalit and 40 Dalit families in this ward and yearly 30-50 goats are being sacrificed here according to local.
The locals through the memorandum have demanded district police office and district administration office to remove this ill- practice.
