The police arrested Resham Chaudhary, the patron of the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NAUPA), on April 30 from the Pragya Pratishthan in Kamaladi, Kathmandu. He was arrested while attending the unity announcement program of the NAUPA and Janamat Party.
SP Apilraj Bohora of the District Police Office, Kathmandu, informed that Chaudhary was arrested for the enforcement of the Supreme Court’s order and was sent to the Dillibazar Jail. The chief of the Dillibazar Jail administration, Suman Tamang, stated that Chaudhary was kept in jail as per the court’s directive. Since the full text of the Supreme Court’s order had not yet arrived, and the sentence had been pardoned by the President Previously, the sentence’s execution would not proceed. Hence, Chaudhary has been held in jail based on the court’s instructions.
Chaudhary, who was convicted and imprisoned for his involvement in the 2015 incident in Tikapur, Kailali, was pardoned by the President released from jail on May 29, 2023.
