School Teacher Accused of Beating Ward Chairperson

On the charge of failing to allocate budget for road construction, Nirajan Ghising, a 33-year-old teacher from Doramba Shailung Rural Municipality-6, Buddheshwari Basic School, physically assaulted Dhruv Chaulagai, the Ward Chairperson of Sunapati Rural Municipality, Ward No. 1.

During the incident, 57-year-old Devi Prasad Gautam from Sunapati Rural Municipality-1, Gunsi, intervened to protect Ward Chairperson Chaulagai. However, Gautam sustained injuries when Ghising threw a Buddha statue , hitting him. According to Gautam, Ghising, who was allegedly intoxicated, had visited the ward office seeking a recommendation for the completion of a water supply scheme and proceeded to attack Ward Chairperson Chaulagai due to dissatisfaction with the budget allocation for road construction.

The attack resulted  in injuries above Gautam’s eyes and nose. Gautam received medical treatment at the health branch of the Rural Municipality on the same day.

Following the incident, both victims filed a complaint against Nirajan Ghising, the accused teacher, at the Gunsi Police Station on July 5. Suman Kurmi reported that the police promptly arrested Ghising on the same day and initiated further investigation.
