A 38-year-old teacher was arrested on the allegations of beating a 15-year-old girl studying in Grade 8 in Amarsingh Secondary School located in Pathri Shanischare Municipality – 5.
The victim’s side has alleged the student’s eardrum was broken due to beatings. The police arrested 38-year-old teacher Prakash Adhikari a resident of Gauradah Municiplaity-4, Jhapa on the charges of beating the student.
Makendra Kumar Mishr, Deputy Superintendent of Police at District Police Office said the initial investigations revealed the student was found absent in the classroom and was sitting in a resting platform after finishing the morning prayer on July 22 2026 during the inquiry the teacher started beating after which eardrum of his left ear broke.
The victim is receiving medical treatment at Nobel Teaching Hospital after he was admitted on July 25 2026. Victim’s father Mahi Narayan Chaudhary filed a complaint at Area Police Office, Pathri on July 25 2026, 3 days after the incident. As informed by the victim’s side the police deployed by the Hasandah Police Post arrested the accused.
As per the prevailing laws in Nepal, there is a provision which forbids teachers from subjecting students to any physical and mental torture. The police are currently investigating into the facts of the incident, reasons behind the beatings and other related aspects.
