Danfe Basic School’s building was swept away by a landslide in Changkheli Rural Municipality -5, Nekpa Village after which the students have been studying under a tent.
The school’s building was destroyed by a landslide that occurred on the night of May 19 2026 after which the classes were continued under tents in the field. Out of six buildings, five were swept away by the floods. Bali Tamang, Principal at the school mentioned the students are being taught under tents leading to a difficult situation. According to him the school does not own enough land, students from Grade- 4 to Grade -7 are studying under the tents.

Under one tent about 12-20 students are accommodated. The school which offers classes up to grade 8 is managing to conduct classes for other grades in one building which survived the landslide. Principal Tamang further said conducting classes under tents is better than open fields however the environment is still not conducive to learning and teaching.
Currently there are 83 students studying in the school. In the current fiscal year, the Karnali Province government has allocated a budget of NPR 30,00,000 under The Social Development Office for the construction of the school building. The landslides also swept away the sheep and cultivated lands of the local.
