The Palpa District Court has sentenced Laxman BK, 43, originally from Ruru Kshetra Rural Municipality–1, Gulmi, and currently residing in Tansen, Palpa, to five months and 27 days’ imprisonment after finding him guilty of raping a 43-year-old woman.
According to Keshav Parajuli, Registrar of the Palpa District Court, the bench of Judge Hari Prasad Sharma Upadhyay on July 14, 2026, found the accused partially guilty and sentenced him to five months and 27 days’ imprisonment, imposed a fine of Rs. 25,500, and ordered him to pay Rs 375,000 in compensation to the victim.
The victim filed a complaint with the Palpa District Police Office on January 18, 2026, alleging that the accused had sexually abused her on December 26, 2022. Police arrested the accused in Tansen on the same day the complaint was filed. On February 1, 2026, a bench of Judge Hari Prasad Sharma Pangeni Upadhyay ordered that the accused be remanded in custody pending trial.
The victim underwent a medical examination at Palpa Hospital on January 18, 2026.
