Dambar Bahadur Tamang, 39, of Arun Rural Municipality, Bhojpur District, who was arrested from the Holding Center in Kirtipur on July 1, 2026, was released on July 8 after depositing a bail amount of Rs. 10,000, in accordance with an order issued by the District Administration Office, informed Superintendent of Police (SP) Pawan Kumar Bhattarai of the Kathmandu District Police Range.
Police arrested Tamang from the Holding Center established in Kirtipur to temporarily accommodate unmanaged settlers from various locations and investigated him on charges of offences against public peace, SP Bhattarai said.
The police initiated the investigation after Tamang publicly stated that he would carry a khukuri to Singha Durbar if the government failed to properly address the concerns of the landless squatters. Based on that statement, he was investigated on charges of offences against public peace.
