The regular meeting of the Human Rights Defenders Network, Bagmati Province, was held in Kathmandu on June 7, under the chairmanship of the network’s co-coordinator, Natibabu Dhital.
The meeting discussed proposals related to the network’s upcoming action plan. The network decided to submit a proposal to local and provincial governments within the mid-week of June 2026 (first week of Asar, 2083 BS) to conduct human rights campaigns. The responsibility for this task was assigned to co-coordinators Arjun Shrestha, Salina Gautam, Kumari Waiba, Sharada Chaulagai, and Manjita Mainali.
The network also decided that the proposal to be submitted to local and provincial governments for conducting human rights campaigns will focus on issues such as education, environment, digital security, youth rights, women’s rights, and children’s rights. It further decided to advocate with local, provincial, and federal governments for structural, policy, and legal reforms.
Additionally, the network decided to hold another meeting in the first week of July (last week of Asar, 2083 BS) for progress evaluation.
