Use of Government Building for Election Campaign

Nepali Congress is accused of using a government building for their campaign in the district. The Congress campaigned for the election by holding a youth meeting at the District Guest House owned by the District Coordination Committee in Byas Municipality-3.

Shankar Bhandari, the central member and MP of Tanahun constituency No. 2, an election commander of Tanahun, was residing at the government building for a week and directing the election campaign.

On Sunday, 16 April 2023, a gathering of Congress youth and students was organized at the government building on the initiative of Bhandari.

The Election Code of Conduct states that party flags and election symbols cannot be displayed in government and public buildings. However, the Congress cadres took a group picture by displaying the party flag and election symbols on the premises of the government guest house.

The head of the District Coordination Committee, Santi Raman Wagle, said that he had no information about the fact that MPs were provided accommodation in the guest house.

He said that election campaigning should not be done in government and public buildings.

According to the district leader of the Nepali Congress clarified the building was used for Congress youth meetings and not for the election campaign.
