Basanta Gaire, 37, Vaccination Focal Person and Health Assistant of Tokha Municipality was beaten on July 31, 2021, after which the vaccination campaign of August 1 has been postponed.
The vaccination program was launched at Grande Hospital of Tokha Municipality from July 30 to August 1 for the first dose of the Vero Cell vaccine. The target group of the campaign were people above the age of 50, drivers, co-drivers and teachers. The target group and locals were informed through micing and banners about the priority group for vaccination against COVID-19. However, people from every age group were lined up for the vaccination after which Gaire had gone to counsel them regarding the priority group but he was beaten by them.
Ram Kaji Thapa, 48, of Tokha Municipality-3 was arrested and kept at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Maharajgunj on the charge of being involved in the beating. Gaire has decided to file a complaint against the accused on August 1, 2021.
