Accused of Wife’s Murder Arrested

Police have arrested Rameshwor Gotame, 38, of Tadi Rural Municipality-2, Nuwakot on August 4, 2021, on the charge of killing his wife Babita Rai, 28, of Khotang. The accused was arrested from their temporary residence of Chamati in Kathmandu Metropolitan-16.

According to SSP Ashok Singh of the Kathmandu Metropolitan Range, Rameshwar was arrested from the incident spot by the police deployed from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Balaju, after receiving information from the locals that he had killed his wife.

They had been living in Rajendra Devkota’s house in Chamati for the last five months. According to Singh, the accused did not use any weapon but had strangled her to death.

Both the husband and wife work as laborers at a footwear factory in the Balaju Industrial Area. According to DSP Nirmal Budhathoki of the Metropolitan Police Circle, Balaju, they married five years ago. The post-mortem of the body was conducted at the TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj on August 4, said DSP Budhathoki.
