President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has promulgated Nepal Citizenship (first amendment) Ordinance 2021 on Sunday. The ordinance has scoped to provide citizenship of the descendant to the child of the person who has got the citizenship by birth.
President Bhandari has issued the ordinance on the recommendation of Council of Ministers in accordance with Article 114(1) of the Constitution of Nepal.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers decided to recommend the ordinance of such arrangement on May 20. The ordinance has also ensured the provision to issue citizenship of descent from the mother’s name to the child whose father is not identified.
