The Supreme Court has issued a show-cause order while the hearing of the writ petition demanding non-implementation of the ordinance on the Constitutional Council brought by the government.
Hearing the writ petition filed by advocate Punya Prasad Khatiwada, a single bench of Judge Mira Khadka issued a show cause order in the name of the opposition (President’s Office, Constitutional Council and others) on May 19, 2021.
According to the order, the respondents will have to submit their reply within 15 days. In the initial hearing, the court refused to issue an interim order not to implement the ordinance as demanded by the petitioner.
The court will decide whether to issue an interim order only after discussions between the two parties. The court has summoned both parties to discuss the matter.
