Civil society organizations have appealed to the local government to focus on improving the physical infrastructure, quarantine, and construction of holding centres by stopping construction work other than the urgent ones.
Thirty-seven civic organizations, including the NGO Federation of Nepal, Federation of Nepali Journalists and INSEC, have issued 26-point appeals on May 6.
The appeal mentioned- ‘Assessing such a dire situation, civil society organizations held a joint meeting on May 1, 2021, to effectively co-operate with the Government of Nepal to control the pandemic of OCVID-19. It has been decided that civil society and organizations will be committed to take initiative to mobilize financial, technical, and humanitarian and all other kinds of assistance, to conduct awareness campaign across the country and to continue the necessary humanitarian work in collaboration with various parties including local government, district security personnel and journalists.’
As the life and health of every citizen is the responsibility of the state in the appeal, it has been demanded to mobilize and use all the resources and means of all the mechanisms of the state to combat this dilemma.
There is a question of protection of the livelihood of the people and they also demand to protect the health and right to life of the people working in the frontline.
