President Bidhyadevi Bhandari has issued seven ordinances including laws related to acid attack and other hazardous chemicals, 2078 BS.
A statement issued by the Office of the President said that seven ordinances were issued by President Bhandari on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers in accordance with Article 114, Clause 1 of the Constitution of Nepal.
These ordinances include the First Amendment to the Constitutional Council (relating to work duties, rights and procedures), an ordinance amending some acts against sexual violence, amending some acts relating to criminal offences and criminal procedure, medicine (Third Amendment), Social Security (First Amendment) and Nepal Police and the Provincial Police (Operation, Supervision and Coordination) (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2078 BS.
The government has brought the ordinance again after the ordinances tabled in the last session of the parliament could not be discussed even though they were on the agenda. There is a constitutional provision that the ordinance must be passed by the parliament within six months from the date of its issuance.
