During the Gen-Z movement, four escapees from various jails were arrested by Surkhet Police on October 7, 2025.
Among those arrested are Dharamendra Gurung, 21, from Gurbakot Municipality–14, and Tejendra Tiwari, 35, from the same municipality–11. Gurung had been serving sentences for robbery and theft, while Tiwari was serving a sentence for human trafficking.
Additionally, Gangbahadur Bhurung, 36, from Lekbesi Municipality–8, and Ratan Badi, 22, from Gurbakot Municipality–6, were arrested and sent to the Surkhet Jail for further serving their sentences. Both Bhurung and Badi were serving sentences for rape cases, according to DSP Mohan Jang Budhathapa of the District Police Office, Surkhet.
DSP Budhathapa stated that the arrested individuals had escaped from Jagannath Deval in Kathmandu, Tulsipur Jail, Nakhu Jail in Kathmandu, and Nawasta Jail in Banke. They were apprehended while hiding and subsequently brought to the prison.
