Suspicious Items Found in Various Locations of Gorkha and Pokhara’s Lakeside

Despite heightened security measures across the country targeting the upcoming House of Representatives election on March 5, suspicious items have been found at various polling centers and locations.

According to the Kaski representative, Sanjay Ranabhat, a suspicious item was discovered inside Street No. 41 in Pokhara Metropolitan City-6, Lakeside. After a bag was found on March 2, near a shop in Lakeside, as a suspicious item, the Nepal Army’s bomb disposal team arrived at the scene. However, no suspicious item was found inside the bag.

According to Kaski representative Sanjay Ranabhat, a suspicious item was discovered inside Street No. 41 in Pokhara Metropolitan City–6, Lakeside. After a bag was found on March 2, near a shop in Lakeside, as a suspicious item, the Nepal Army’s bomb disposal team arrived at the scene. However, no suspicious item was found inside the bag. According to a letter found in the bag, it was revealed that the bag belonged to a polling officer, who was assigned to Talbarahi Secondary School Polling Center ‘B’  located near that area, the Kaski police reported.

According to Gorkha representative Hariram Upreti, a suspicious item was found in Shahid Lakhan–8, Mailung, on the night of February 28. The suspicious item was a cooker. The suspicious cooker was disposed of by the Nepal Army’s bomb disposal team, the police reported. District Police Office Gorkha DSP Rajkumar Shrestha stated that the incident is under investigation.

Similarly, near Jhimbrek Mahipate Secondary School polling center in Siran Chok Rural Municipality–2, Thalajung, a suspicious item connected to a battery was found on February 27. After locals discovered the suspicious item with wires attached to the battery, they informed the police. The suspicious item, found wrapped in tape, was disposed of by the Rudradhwaj Battalion of the Nepal Army, DSP Rajkumar Shrestha of District Police Office Gorkha stated. Shrestha also informed that the incident is under investigation.
