In relation to preparations for the House of Representatives election to be held on March 5, a joint team of the Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC), Madhesh Province, Madhesh Province Ministry of Sports and Social Welfare, Sabal Nepal, Life Nepal, and Aasman Nepal conducted monitoring on March 1 in Saptari.
The monitoring was led by INSEC Madhesh Province Coordinator Raju Paswan and Deputy Provincial Secretary Ranjit Kumar Yadav of the Madhesh Province Ministry of Sports and Social Welfare. The monitoring covered various areas of the district. During the monitoring on Sunday in constituencies 1, 2, 3, and 4, meetings were held with the Chief Election Officer, Chief District Officer, and leaders of civil society.
The team met with the Chief District Officer and Chief Election Officer of Saptari to discuss election preparations, the condition of polling centers, and the use of children, INSEC district representative Navin Yadav informed.
Chief District Officer of Saptari, Tuwaraj Pokharel, stated that there are 296 polling sites in the district and that locations were decided through an all-party meeting. He added that children have not been used in election campaigning, and efforts have been made to make polling centers accessible for persons with disabilities, women, and senior citizens.
He also stated that all necessary security arrangements for the election have been completed. According to him, 208 polling sites have been classified as highly sensitive, 84 as sensitive, and 4 as normal.
During monitoring, Chief Election Officer of Saptari, Vishnu Prasad Acharya, noted that polling centers are located at Dehibar Than in Ward No. 7 and at Khula Chaur in Ward No. 10 of Bodebarsain Municipality, Constituency No. 4, posing security challenges.
Although verbal information was received regarding the use of children in election campaigning, no written complaints have been filed so far. Acharya added that political parties have been verbally instructed not to involve children.
