Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) has decided to honor human rights activist Nawadatta Dhungana of Pokhara with 18th Prakash Human Rights award. Three-member committee comprised of INSEC general secretary Lal babu Yadav and members Kundan Aryal and Rakshya Basyal recommended Dhungana, 80, for the Prakash Human Rights Award-2011.

Human rights activist Dhungana will be conferred with the award at a function that will be held on July 31 at the hall of District Development Committee in Pokhara. Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Kedar Nath Upadhyaya will attend the program as chief guest.

The award was established in the memory of untiring Human Rights fighter late Prakash Kaphle, founding general secretary of INSEC in 1994. 17 persons have already been honored with this award. The award carries a purse of Rs. 50,000 along with letter of felicitation.
