Sabitri Shrestha to be Awarded with Prakash Human Rights Award
Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) has decided to honor Sabitri Shrestha of Okhaldhunga with 19th Prakash Human Rights Award. Three-member award recommendation committee comprised of INSEC General Secretary Lal Babu Yadav and members Kundal Aryal and Rakshya Basyal recommended Shrestha for the Prakash Human Rights Award-2012 honoring her struggle towards ending impunity and establishing rule of law.
Shrestha will be honored with the award at a function that will be held at 1 PM on July 30 at the Russian Culture Centre in Kamalpokhari. The program will be chaired by Vice-chairperson of CPN-UML and Chairperson of All Nepal Women’s Association Bidhya Bhandari.
The award was established in memory of untiring Human Rights fighter late Prakash Kafle, founding General Secretary of INSEC in 1994. 18 persons have already been honored with this award. The award carries a purse of Rs 50,000 along with a letter of felicitation.
