We demand a judicial investigation into the massacre carried out by the state during the Gen-Z-led protests in Kathmandu on September 8, 2025, against the government’s decisions on corruption, mismanagement, and the social media shutdown. The cabinet’s decision yesterday to form an investigative committee is unacceptable. The legitimacy of the current government has already ended. Beyond mere political ambition, the country, its people, and the constitutional framework for governance, established by the Constitution Assembly must take precedence. It will be the responsibility of the next government to establish a strong, independent commission and ensure a fair and impartial judicial investigation. It must also be guaranteed that, unlike in the past, the recommendations of such commissions are not left unimplemented.
