The Palpa District Court has sentenced 19-year-old Rembahadur Thada of Chidipani, Mathagadhi Rural Municipality–1, to four years and 15 days in prison for the sexual abuse of a 32-year-old woman.
In its verdict delivered on July 9, a bench of Judge Hariprasad Sharma Upadhyay found the accused partially guilty and sentenced him to four years and 15 days’ imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 3,000 and ordered him to deposit Rs. 200 into the Victim Relief Fund, according to Court Registrar Keshav Parajuli.
The survivor’s family filed a complaint with the Palpa District Police Office on February 21, alleging that the accused had sexually abused the woman on February 17. Police arrested the accused from his home the following day, on February 22.
Earlier, on March 17, 2026, Judge Hariprasad Sharma Pangeni Upadhyay of the Palpa District Court had ordered the accused to remain in judicial custody pending trial. The survivor underwent a medical examination at Palpa Hospital on February 21.
