The District Court has sentenced eight juvenile offenders to prison terms ranging from three years to six and a half years after finding them guilty of raping a 17-year-old girl.
In its verdict delivered on July 9, the District Court found the accused guilty and sentenced them to imprisonment ranging from three years to six and a half years. The court also ordered them to pay the survivor compensation amounting to Rs. 950,000.
The survivor’s family filed a complaint with the District Police Office on March 5, alleging that the accused had raped the girl on January 19. Following the complaint, police arrested five of the accused from different locations in Hetauda on March 6, two more on March 7, and another suspect later during the course of the investigation.
