Five men were arrested for allegedly gang-raping a 22-year-old woman at Sushma Palace Hotel in Ward No. 2 of Gaur Municipality on July 7, 2026. The suspects Santosh Raut, 25, of Gaur, Mohammad Tajuddin, 33, of Kalyani Panchayat–24, Muzaffarpur District, India, Jitendra Kumar, 37, of Mairwan Panchayat–2, Hasnain Alam, 38, of Bakatpur Panchayat–1, and 37-year-old Alok Kumar of Krama Panchayat–4, India—were arrested and publicly presented by the District Police Office during a press conference on July 9.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Basanta Gautam of the District Police Office, the survivor filed a complaint on July 7, alleging that her boyfriend, Santosh, lured her to the hotel with a promise of marriage and, together with the other accused, gang-raped her. DSP Gautam said the case is under investigation. The survivor underwent a medical examination at the Provincial Hospital in Gaur on July 8.
