The Siraha District Court convicted Rudra Bahadur Khatri, 72, on July 2, 2026 of the offense of raping a 10-year-old girl and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
A single bench of Judge Gopal Prasad Thapa also ordered the convicted man to pay a fine of Rs. 700,000 and compensation of Rs. 100,000 to the survivor.
According to the complaint, the survivor was subjected to sexual abuse on October 1, 2024 and again on November 18, 2024. The survivor’s family filed a complaint against the accused at the Lahan Area Police Office on November 20, 2024. Police arrested the accused on November 24, 2024.
The survivor underwent a medical examination at Provincial Hospital Lahan on the same day the complaint was filed. Subsequently, on December 19, 2024, the Siraha District Court ordered that the accused be remanded in judicial custody pending trial.
