Over 190 Polling Stations in Dhanusa Classified Highly Sensitive

In the context of pre-election preparations to ensure that the upcoming House of Representatives election on March 5 is conducted peacefully, fairly, and without fear, the INSEC observer team met with the Assistant Chief District Officer of Dhanusha on March 2.

The election observer team, including INSEC Madhesh Province Coordinator Raju Paswan, Mamta Bishwakarma, Amit Mishra, Balram Sah, Purushottam Yadav, and Binod Mahara, held discussions with the Assistant Chief District Officer and Krishna Gaire, Chair of the Election Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee, regarding pre-election preparations.

During the discussion, Gaire informed that preparations were underway targeting 322 polling stations in the district to ensure the election is conducted peacefully, fairly, and credibly. Among these, 194 were classified as highly sensitive, 160 as sensitive, and 22 as normal.

He explained that Dhanusha has 645 polling centers and that the classification of polling stations was based on factors such as open border areas, high voter populations, and issues that arose during previous elections. Special preparations with close monitoring will be conducted at the 194 highly sensitive polling stations. He added that all administrative work has been temporarily suspended, and all staff are fully focused on election preparations.

He further stated that 10 to 12 security personnel will be deployed at each polling center, emphasizing that the peace and security of polling stations and voters is the top priority. He suggested that human rights workers and election observers coordinate closely to support these efforts.
