BBC ‘Gen Z Movement’ Screened in Janakpur; RSP Activist Arrested

While a BBC-produced documentary on the “Gen Z Movement” was being screened in Janakpurdham, police arrested a Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) activist along with a vehicle bearing an Indian number plate on February 28.

The activist was detained while the documentary, produced by the BBC on the Gen Z movement that took place last September, was being shown in Janakpur, in a vehicle with an Indian registration plate.

According to SP Rugam Bahadur Kunwar of the District Police Office, Dhanusha, the documentary was being screened at the Janakpurdham Railway Station using a projector installed in a vehicle numbered BR 01 G 01467. Police took RSP activist Bikash Jaiswal into custody during the screening.

SP Kunwar stated that the Indian-registered vehicle had been brought for the purpose of screening the documentary using a projector. Two other vehicles involved in the screening fled the scene. Preliminary investigation suggests those vehicles were also equipped with projectors and engaged in broadcasting the documentary.

Police said they are also investigating the screening conducted without permission in a public place at a time when the election code of conduct is in effect. Jaiswal has been kept in custody at the District Police Office, Dhanusha, and further investigation into the incident is underway.
