Police have arrested 26 civil society leaders from Singha Durbar Gate on July 11, 2021. They had protested demanding improvement in the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan.
The arrested civil activists are Yug Pathak, Narayan Wagle, Archana Thapa, Praneta, Anubhav Ajeet, Arundev Joshi, Nirga Nabin, Shashi Bikram Karki, Arun Thapa, Nabin Tiwari, Basant Chhipa, Bimal Aryal, Govinda Chhantyal, Shravan Mukarung, Rajendra Maharjan, Khagendra Sangraula , Dr. Sanjeev Upreti, Chandravir Tumbapo, Pradip Sedhain, Naresh Gyawali, Dr. Kumbharaj Joshi, Prashant Rai, Bishnu Adhikari, Chham Gurung, Manoj Khatiwada and Dr. LB Basnet.
They were kept in the Nepal Police Club in Exhibition Road and released in the evening, said Bimal Aryal.
Doctors, professors, staff, students and civil society leaders have been protesting for four years demanding reform of the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.
The bottom line of their protest is the removal of four officials including the Vice-Chancellor of the Foundation Dr. Gyanendra Giri from BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.
Civil leaders in Kathmandu have been supporting the ongoing protest after the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan but the stakeholders have not shown any interest in the movement.
