Dr. Kebal Kapuri, 26, of Bhadrapur Municipality-4 working at Mechi Hospital, Bhadrapur has filed a complaint against a beneficiary in the accusation of beating him on July 18, 2021.
DSP Rakesh Thapa of District Police Office told INSEC that the complaint was filed against Pushparaj Niraula, 45, of Haldibari Rural Municipality-3 on July 19. According to the victim, Niraula had started beating him because of the delay in the checkup of his 25-year-old wife.
According to accused Pusphparaj, he had beaten Kapuri because he came late to examine the patient and when Pushparaj told him to be punctual, Kapuri abused him verbally.
Dr. Tanka Barakoti, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, said that they would investigate the case. He has demanded immediate action against Niraula saying such actions are completely unacceptable in a hospital. According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, the accused has admitted his fault.
Dr. Barakoti told INSEC that the doctors had suspended the services of the hospital for some time on July 19 as a protest against the beating, but the services were resumed later in the evening.
