Woman Arrested for Attacking Police with a Sharp Weapon

A woman has been arrested on charges of attacking a police constable with a sharp weapon on June 11, while police were clearing encroached land belonging to Ishwari Secondary School.

According to the District Police Office, Banke, the police team had been deployed to remove encroachment from the school’s land after local resident Savitri Kumari Shahi, who had been living on the encroached property for a long time, did not vacate it despite prior notice.

During the operation, Shahi allegedly attacked Police Constable Sunil Chaudhary with a sharp weapon.

The injured constable sustained minor injuries on the back of his right shoulder. After receiving treatment, he rejoined the police team, according to Ward Chair Bhupal Pun Magar of Baijnath Rural Municipality–6.

Police Spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent Prateet Singh Rathour, said the condition of Constable Chaudhary is normal. “The wound is not deep; it is only a minor bruise,” he said. The woman involved in the incident has been arrested, and further investigation is underway, police said.

Meanwhile, the arrested woman, Shahi, has claimed that there was a minor dispute during the eviction process and that she acted in self-defense after police allegedly attempted to enter her home and attack her. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
