Ajay Kumar Yadav, 30, of Haatkhola, Biratnagar Metropolitan City–8, was convicted by the District Court, Morang, on the charges related to sexual abuse involving a 14-year-old girl on February 1 and sentenced to two months’ imprisonment.
In a verdict delivered on June 11, District Judge Chitrakumar Gurung found him guilty and ordered a two-month jail term, a fine of Rs. 10,000, and compensation of Rs. 10,000 to be paid to the victim. Court information officer Hem Bahadur Budhathoki provided the details.
Following the allegation made on February 1, the victim’s family filed a complaint against Yadav at the District Police Office on 19 Magh.
Based on the complaint, police arrested Yadav on February 3 and forwarded the case to the District Government Attorney’s Office, which filed the case in the District Court on 5 Falgun 2082 under charges related to inappropriate conduct.
On February 17, District Judge Paramesh Pokharel’s bench ordered bail of NPR 75,000, after which the accused was released upon depositing bail.
On May 20, District Judge Chitrabahadur Gurung’s bench delivered the final verdict, finding him guilty and imposing the sentence along with a fine and compensation, according to court information officer Budhathoki.
The victim’s health examination was conducted at Koshi Hospital on January 26.
