Individual Arrested for Intimidating Security Personnel on Polling Duty

Police have arrested a youth who allegedly brandished a sharp weapon to intimidate security personnel deployed outside a polling station.

On March 3, Anis Mahato, 27, of Ward No. 14, Kawasoti Municipality, arrived on a scooter at the polling station set up at Balkalyan Basic School in Kawasoti–14. He reportedly repeatedly showed a dao (sharp weapon) to security personnel on duty in an attempt to tease and threaten them.

After Assistant Sub-Inspector Prem Rana, who was deployed at the polling station, informed Kawasoti Mobile 07, a team led by Mobile 07 Commander Bhuvan Chandra Bhatt reached the scene. Mahato fled upon seeing the police team but was later arrested by a joint patrol team from Dhokhi in Kawasoti Municipality–17. He was handed over to ASI Prem Rana at Balkalyan Chowk.

Police recovered the dao (sharp weapon) from his possession and also took the scooter under control.
