On the charge of engaging in activities against the House of Representatives member election scheduled for March 5, police have arrested 76 individuals and kept them in custody.
According to police analysis, six groups, including Durga Prasai, coordinator of the “Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture and Citizen Protection Grand Campaign,” are currently active in attempting to disrupt the election. Police spokesperson (DIG) Avin Narayan Kafle stated that 76 individuals, including Prasai, have been arrested for their involvement in activities aimed at disrupting the election.
Police had arrested a total of 142 individuals for involvement in anti-election activities, of whom 66 have already been released following a court order. DIG Kafle said that nine individuals were arrested on March 2.
According to police analysis, the Prasai group, the Nepal Communist Party (Majority) led by Dharmendra Bastola, the Scientific Socialist Party led by Ahuti, the Mongol National Organization, and groups active in the identity movement have been involved in anti-election activities. Dharmendra Bastola, General Secretary of the Majority faction, has been released following his arrest.
