Election Officers Oriented for Effective Polling

A three-day orientation training for election officers and assistant election officers has started in the district ahead of the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.

Chief of the District Election Office, Bhim Bahadur Shahi, stated that the training, organized from February 26-28, by the District Election Office, Bajura, aims to make the election process more effective, transparent, and orderly, ensuring a clean, fair, and dignified election.

The training covers polling center management, voter identification verification, ballot box handling, pre-election site preparation, implementation of the code of conduct, and management of emergency situations to enhance staff competence.

Chief Election Officer Sanjiv Pokharel provided detailed guidance to staff on adherence to the election code of conduct, creating a voter-friendly environment, security coordination, and legal provisions.

Chief District Officer Dorendra Niraula emphasized that this orientation clarifies responsibilities for election officers and assistant officers, helping them perform confidently. It also provides clear guidance on identifying and addressing potential challenges during the election process.

According to Bhim Bahadur Shahi, all activities are being conducted to ensure voting at every designated polling center is completed on time, with coordination among all stakeholders being essential for a safe, fair, and credible election.

For the upcoming election, 709 staff members will be deployed across 118 polling centers in the district. Each center will have up to six staff, including election and assistant election officers, while a temporary polling station at the Divisional Forest Office in Martadi headquarters will have four staff.

The district has a total of 87,861 registered voters, including 45,428 men, 42,431 women, and two others. The single House of Representatives constituency in the district features eight candidates, seven from political parties and one independent, competing in the election.
