Interaction on Right to Health and Education at Manthali
An interaction program on the Right to Health and Education was conducted at Manthali Municipality on November 2, 2021.
The program was organized by Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) and Human Rights Network.
The program was attended by Hemantakumar Budhathoki, Chief of the Department of Education of the municipality. He shared that the educational activities were taken ahead following the health protocols considering the impact of COVID-19 on the sector of education.
He further mentioned that the municipality had brought together all the Principals of all the schools in the municipality and had discussed about the impact of COVID-19 and the management of the school. He said that no problem has been reported so far by any of the Principals.
Chief of the Department of Health, Keshav Phuyal informed that 16,500 people of the municipality have been vaccinated. He also said this year kidney tests will be conducted on all the citizens of the municipality. Furthermore, a heart and diabetes screening camp will also be set up. He informed that those who are unable to fill up the online form for vaccination against COVID-19 will be facilitated.
Civil society had suggested to the local government to make health care and education more effective considering the risks of COVID-19.
Bichar Singh Tamang, Chairperson of District Bar Ramechhap, Milan Ghising, Ramechhap Central Member of NGO Federation Vice-Chairperson Ratna Prasad Kandel, former Janajati Federation’s Chairperson Khadga Ale Magar, Advocate Babukaji Dahal and others also urged the municipality to adhere to health protocols in schools and crowded areas.
