Interaction on Human Rights in New Constitution

An interaction program was held in Citwan on July 4 on “Human Rights in New Constitution” organised by INSEC mid-regional office. The participants discussed on issue of Human Rights in New constitution.

 

The District Court Judge Tek Narayan Kunwar informed about the basic rights included in new constitution and also presented working-paper. He said that justice should be fair, bias less and capable.  He added that court has played a leading role for the protection of Human Rights.

 

Kunwar said that there has been increment on guaranteeing social security by the state and further said that the government has also taken initiation to protect the rights of people. As per the positive attempt by the government, three years National Human Rights work-plan has been implemented, he said.

 

Speaking at the program, INSEC regional coordinator, Krishna Gautam said that the work-plan implemented by the government could not reach to the targeted community as there has been less publicity.

 

Chair person Chudamani Sapkota of Chitwan Bar Association stressed that it is important to implement the new constitution rather than just promulgating it.
