Insec Provided Financial Support to Violence Victim in Dhanusha
INSEC, through its Human Rights Help Desk, provided financial support to Sakila Khatun, also known as Sikilila Devi Mahara,31, a violence victim of Janakpurdham Sub-metropolitan City-16 Kapuleshwar. Raju Paswan, Coordinator of the INSEC Madhesh Province Office, and Rambilas Dhankar, a Member of the Nepali Congress from Madhesh Province, handed over a cheque for Rs 10,000 to the victim.
The victim submitted an application to the INSEC Madhesh Province Office on August 26, requesting assistance with the legal process. In her application, she mentioned that she had a love marriage with Manjur Dafali of Janakpurdham Sub-metropolitan City-16, Kapuleshwar, nine years ago and that they had a son together. However, Dafali did not allow them to eat, subjected them to physical and mental torture, and eventually evicted them from the house. Additionally, the victim filed a case against her husband in the Dhanusha District Court. However, the court has ordered a DNA test for their son, which requires Rs 30,000.
Raju Paswan, Coordinator of the INSEC Madhesh Province Office, stated that on August 29, INSEC provided financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to help the victim access justice due to her financial difficulties. Paswan said that INSEC has been providing financial support and facilitation to victims of gender-based violence and sexual violence for a long time to provide access to justice for the victims.
