INSEC Provided Financial Assistence to Rape Victim
The Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC) has provided financial assistance to a rape victim to facilitate the legal process. Financial support of Rs 10,000 was provided to the women through the joint coordination of the INSEC District Representative and Sushmita Pokhrel, Focal Person of the One-Stop Crisis Management Center (OCMC) under Rapti Academy of Health Sciences. The support was provided to ensure that the victim gets easy access to justice.
The 66-year-old woman was raped and injured by 34-year-old Shivkumar Kurmi from Maharajganj Municipality-2 in Kapilvastu district on May 22. The accused was arrested on May 23 and the police registered a case against the accused on June 14 through the public prosecutor’s office at the District Court under the charge of rape. The bench of the District Court on June 16 sent the accused to prison for pre-trial detention.
