INSEC Held Human Rights Help Desk Meeting in Dhanusha

A meeting of the Human Rights Help Desk was held under the leadership of Raj Kumar Mahaseth, Chairperson of the Human Rights Help Desk formed by the Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC), Madhesh Province, on August 27 at the Province Office of Advocacy Forum Nepal in Janakpurdham.

Raju Paswan, Coordinator of INSEC Madhesh Province, stated that the meeting was organized to enhance the effectiveness of the Human Rights Help Desk. The desk was established to improve access to legal processes and justice for victims of human rights violations. During the meeting, it was decided to provide financial support to Sakila Khatun, also known as Sikilila Devi Mahara, a violence victim from Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City-16, Kapileshwar, who had requested INSEC’s support to help her access justice.

Similarly, it was also decided to provide financial support to the family of the deceased Niranjan Ram from Garuda Municipality-8, Rautahat, to assist them in accessing justice. Additionally, in the meeting, it was decided that if there is a need for financial support for emergency justice based on applications from victims, the Help Desk Secretariat can consult with the coordinator of the help desk and financial support can be provided to the victim immediately if needed. Rajkumar Mahaseth stated that it was decided to hold a comprehensive discussion meeting for the Human Rights Help Desk in September 2024 to review and discuss the work and responsibilities of the Help Desk.

A total of 12 representatives, including those from INSEC, Advocacy Forum, Third Alliance, Blue Diamond Society, Conflict Victim Women National Network (CVWN), and journalists, participated in the meeting.
