Earthquake Victims complained about the house model
The locals of Takumajh Lakuribot of Gorkha said that they cannot build the house as per the model determined by the National Reconstruction Authority. The earthquake victims said that the model given by NRA is not useful for their life. They complained about the model while speaking at public hearing program organized by Human Rights coalition on March 25.
“Two roomed house is not useful for us, the government has built the house but it is only useful to store millet”, said Shiva Khadka.
The participants said that the model is not scientific for them to live in.
There was an agreement for 611 however only houses for 50/60 victims are being made according to Lakuribot ward secretary Nisha Rai. She added that in second installment, house for 68 people will be recommended.
The locals said that they stopped building house after the criteria of the government became vague. Lok Bahadur Thapa, a local, said that the amount provided by the government is not enough at all.
They complained about the technicians delaying the work. The program was chaired by coalition chairperson Yadu Adhikari. The program was participated by member of district disaster relief committee, Ishwori Paneru of District Development Committee, advocate Sthaneshwor Duwadi and rights activists.
